James E. Potter of Natick passed away on February 11, 2024, at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury at the age of 75.
Beloved husband of Margaret (Doucette) Potter. He was born in Cambridge to the late Everett and Alice (Eastman) Potter. Devoted father of Thomas Potter and his wife Terryn of Northbridge, Kevin Potter of Chepachet, RI and Christine Chmielak and her husband Charles of Collierville, TN. Loving grandfather of James and Michael Potter, Lily, Cora, and Maeve Chmielak and MaKayla Chauvin.
Jim was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1966. Following graduation he worked as warehouse manager for Sears. Jim was drafted into the Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat. Following his return from Vietnam, Jim married the love of his life, Peggy. Jim’s life was his family. He coached his children’s soccer teams for several years. Jim could always be found cheering on his children and grandchildren at soccer, football, cheering, track, and dance recitals. He enjoyed family vacations in York, Maine and was the biggest Bruins fan you have ever met. He was a proud member of VFW, American Legion, DAV, and the Elks in Natick.
Funeral Service in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street NATICK COMMON on Saturday February 17th at 1pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
