Alan "Captain Al" McEvoy Obituary

Alan “Captain Al” McEvoy, 81, of Wayland, MA, passed away, Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice House, Wayland, MA.


 He was the husband of Norma Jean (Robinson) McEvoy.


Born in Medford, MA, he was the son of the late Henry and Eleanor (McCarthy) McEvoy. He was a member of the AMVETS, VFW and the Natick Elks. Alan had worked as a meat cutter for the Natick Stop & Shop for 47 years, retiring in 2005. Captain Al was an avid fisherman, fishing on Dudley Pond for over 40 years. He loved to cook and entertain his family and friends.


Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven McEvoy of Marshfield, MA, and Michael McEvoy and his wife Christine of Upton, MA, and a daughter, Donna Thibault and her husband Gary of Natick, MA.  Also, Norma’s children, Erich MacKenzie and Danika Patton, both of Leominster.  He was brother to Barbara Keough of Natick, MA, and of the late Richard McEvoy.  He leaves behind ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 9 AM from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Pond St., Natick.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
