Arline (Brzozowski) Macdonald, 89, formerly of Wayland, passed away on February 14th following a 16-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Arline was born in Newton on September 28, 1934, to Genevieve Brzozowski (née Jasinski) and spent most of her young life in Waltham - or as she often called it, “good old Waltham.” She later graduated from Newton High School and went to art school, fostering her amazing talent for illustration, painting, and design.
She loved fashion but was unable to afford what she coveted in magazines and movies, so she taught herself to sew and became an incredible seamstress - a skill she continued to perfect throughout her life. If there was a pageant, dance recital, prom or wedding, Arline could always be counted on for her meticulous work.
She met her sweetheart, Howie Macdonald, at a work picnic in 1952.They were married in 1958, eventually settling down in Wayland to raise their three daughters. Arline was a loving and devoted stay-at-home Mum and a dedicated and nurturing grandmother.
In addition to sewing, painting and countless other artistic endeavors, Arline enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, and relaxing on her glider swing in the backyard. Summer was her favorite season, and she loved the beach. Some of her fondest memories were of camping at White Lake State Park in New Hampshire. Later in life, she spent many winters “snow birding” in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
She is predeceased by her devoted Husband of 56 years, Howard C. Macdonald and leaves behind her loving daughters, Christine Macdonald of East Falmouth, Susan Muster and her husband, Alan, of Needham, and Stacy Macdonald and her husband, Scott Weaver, of Melrose; grandchildren, Juliet (husband Chris), Laura, Mac, and Audrey; great grandchildren, Cayden, Joshua, and Hayley.
The family will hold private reflection and celebrations to commemorate Arline’s life. In honor of her memory, please consider contributing to research diagnosis and treatment for Alzheimer's disease through the Alzheimer's Association, or if preferred, an organization dedicated to education in the arts for underprivileged youth/teens
