Arthur Lamont Obituary

Arthur Leonard Lamont, 81, passed away on Flag Day, Friday, June 14, 2024, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Art was born on August 29, 1942, to the late Arthur James and Rita Ann (England) Lamont in Natick, Massachusetts. He has two brothers and two sisters: William (Billy) Lamont, Janice Spongberg and Roberta Milan; predeceased by younger brother, Ronald Lamont.

Art proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 until he was Honorably discharged in 1969. While serving in the army, Art specialized in rifle shooting and was an expert sharpshooter. He loved his country and serving others. He was honored to be a Veteran.

Art’s passion was being a firefighter. He was also part of the scuba diving program for the Natick Fire Department. He thoroughly enjoyed serving his community. After retirement from the Natick Fire Department, he served as a constable for the town of Natick.

Art enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting and fishing. He spent many summers with his daughter camping with his trailer in New Hampshire campgrounds. They would take trips on his motorcycle to enjoy the fresh air. Flying his ultralight plane was another interest until he eventually crashed it. He was an avid lightweight boxer.

Art had a sense of humor and made people laugh. He had many lines he would quote and make anyone smile. Two of his favorite lines were “It’s not the size of the man in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the man.” and “There ya go and there you are.”

Art joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with his best friends: Lafi and Steve. Art considered these two best friends as his family. Art loved being the assistant coach on the church basketball team.

Art has left wonderful memories with his former wife, Deborah Priest. They were married for eight years. After their separation, they continued a wonderful friendship for the sake of their children.

He is survived by his son Michael Kirk Lamont of Natick, Massachusetts; and, daughter Judy Louise Lamont (Jacob) Stock of Punta Gorda, Florida. His most treasured possessions were his seven grandchildren: Michael S. Lamont, James, Jaren, Sierra, Sydney, Jonah and Jack Stock. He also treasured his relationships with his nieces.

Arthur resided his last few years in Port Charlotte, Florida, to be closer to his family.

We ask that in lieu of flowers, to consider making a donation to Shriners Hospital in accordance of Art’s wishes as he was a full-time donator to them.

Graveside service will be held in Natick, Massachusetts, Dell Park Cemetery, on July 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
