Brian Loflin Obituary

Brian Michael Loflin of Bellingham, Massachusetts passed away on November 30, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on August 17, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the beloved father of Danielle and Emily. He leaves behind his daughters, his grandson Lucas, his ex-wife of many years Diane, his son-in-laws, Brent and Keith, and his bandmates and close friends who were like brothers to him.

Brian spent his childhood in Roslindale, Massachusetts, and was a proud graduate of Boston Latin in 1968, and Boston College in 1972. An avid mathematician, he started his career for the US treasury. Brian spent 30 years as an accountant and auditor for the Department of Defense before retiring. He spent most of his adult life in Natick, Massachusetts and raised his family there.

Brian’s true passion was music. He started playing the drums at a young age and played all through his schooling and college in school bands. As a teenager, he became enthralled with the music of Elvis Presley and The Beatles and joined his first rock band. He was a drummer for the band, The American Revolution, for many years, and they won the Battle of the Bands in Boston in 1968. He also drummed for The What Four, The Rogues, and Max. He passed on his love of percussion to his grandson Lucas.

Brian loved summertime and traveling to the Cape, Maine, St. Maarten, and Bermuda. He also traveled all over the US with his career. He was so happy that the Celtics won their 18th Championship, and he was a huge fan of all Boston sports, including the Red Sox, the Bruins, the Patriots, and his Alma mater, Boston College.

Brian enjoyed living with and being cared for by Emily and Brent during his last years. Brian loved being by the pool in their backyard with his dear family and close friends. It was a profound honor to take care of him. He loved being a father and grandfather and was known for his sense of humor and stories. Brian will be greatly missed for his wit, wisdom, thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness. Brian’s memory will be kept alive by the family and friends that he adored.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of his memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at https://themmrf.org/

A private Celebration of Life will be held in his memory for close family and friends at a later date.
