Caryl Maletta Obituary

Caryl Ann (Christensen) Maletta, age 88, of Natick passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13th at Countryside Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. Caryl was the beloved wife of 52 years of Lawrence W. “Larry” Maletta who passed away in 2010.

Caryl is survived by her children, Larry Maletta II and his wife Peggy of Douglasville, GA, Beth Vozella and her husband Mark of Yarmouth, MA and Julie Parsons and her husband Jim of Milford MA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Larry Maletta III of Atlanta, GA, Nicole Foust (Jason) of Dallas, GA, Jenny Lokey (Brooks) of Nashville, TN and Maddie VanBuskirk (Scott) of Hopedale, MA.  Caryl is also survived by the lights of her life; her great grandchildren, James and Emilia VanBuskirk and her cherished dog, Otis

Caryl was born July 30, 1936, in Chelsea MA to Henry and Ann Christensen.  She was predeceased by her sister Claire Wisniewski and her brother Robert Christensen.  Caryl began her career at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she met her husband, Larry.  They were married in 1958 and began to build their family.  Caryl was a stay-at-home mom until the early 80’s when she took a job as a biller in the business office of Leonard Morse Hospital.  She then became a medical biller for Dr. William Goodman where she stayed until her retirement.

Caryl’s greatest joy in life was being a mom, grandmother and great grandmother.  When asked how she wanted to be remembered she replied, “I want to be remembered as someone who tried.” You did good Mom!

Funeral services were private, and Caryl was laid to rest next to her loving husband.

Caryl’s children would like to thank the staff at Enclave for making Mom’s 16 months there enjoyable.  We would also like to thank both the Rehab and Long-Term Care staff of Countryside for taking such good care of our mom during her time there, and especially the staff of Faith and Family Hospice who were with us until the end.

Donations in her memory may be made to Countryside Healthcare, 1 Countryside Drive, Milford MA 01757 or Faith and Family Hospice, 420 Lakeside Avenue Suite 203, Marlborough, MA 01752.

Per Caryl’s wishes certain surviving family members have been omitted from her obituary.
