Charles Christie Obituary

Charles Christie, died with his family by his side on March 14th, 2023.

Born in 1931, he was the son of the late Vasil and Angie (Wassel) Christie, who emigrated here from Albania.

He was always so very proud of his Albanian Heritage.  Charlie was raised and educated in Natick.  He was the Captain of his high school basketball team as well as his college team at Bridgewater State University.  His love for learning transitioned into becoming a special education teacher in Natick for 38 years as well as the varsity basketball coach for 19 years.  Throughout that time he received many awards, including The Oswald Tower Award for outstanding contributions to Massachusetts High School basketball.  He was also inducted into the Mass State Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1988.  A trophy case is displayed at Natick High School in his honor.  Charlie was also employed as a part-time sales consultant at Coan, Inc., for many years.  However, it was through determination and hard work that he invested in real estate and this became a passion that continued throughout his life.

Charles was married for 63 wonderful years to the love of his life, Nancy (Kane) Christie, who passed away in 2014.  They lived in Natick and eventually moved to Dover.  Together they raised four children.  Family was of utmost importance to him.  They loved spending summers at their home on Cape Cod.  His eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He loved attending their sporting events and especially cherished holiday times spent together.  Charlie leaves behind one son, Jeff, and two daughters, Lori Connelly and her husband Michael and Carolyn Moriarty and her husband Brian.  His son Bill recently predeceased him this past October and was married to Laurie Christie.  He also leaves behind his adored eleven grandchildren, Brad and Ryan Connelly, Keryn Clifford, and Kristen Balzotti, Colin, Jack and Brooke Moriarty, and Matthew, Craig, Bailey and Kevin Christie, as well as two great-grandchildren, Henry and Annabelle Clifford.  He was the brother of Margaret Beaver, the late Jenny Cochran and the late Antinetta Zicko.  He also leaves behind his in-laws, Jerry Cochran and Janet Kane.  In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews and wonderful lifelong friends.

Visiting hours will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, NATICK COMMON, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 4-7PM.  Funeral services will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 11AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA, 01701.
