Chrysolite Fitzgerald, 55, of West Roxbury passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 following a brief illness.
Born on July 18, 1971, in Los Angeles, California, she was the beloved daughter of Salvador and Lourdes (Montanez) Benoit.
Chrys grew up in Natick, Massachusetts. She is a graduate of Boston College with a degree in Mathematics and then went on to achieve her master's degree in education from Simmons College. She has worked at Newton South High School as a math teacher for a number of years. She loved music, singing, dance and art. She served in the Peace Corps for two years in Tanzania, Africa after college. She was loving, spontaneous, generous, compassionate and a lover of the fun of life! She was loved by many and made a huge impact in the life of her family, colleagues and students. She was accepting of all people and felt everyone had value. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her parents and was the beloved mother of Dante F. Fitzgerald, Elian O. Fitzgerald, and Acacia B. Fitzgerald, all of West Roxbury. Chrys was the cherished sister of Cathleen Lopez of Stoughton and Bethany Benoit Dimaria of Santa Barbara, and Luke Benoit of Northborough.
