Daniel J. Lunney

Daniel J. Lunney, 81, of Sharon, MA passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, surrounded by loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

He was the husband of Rosemary C. (Hannigan) Camps Lunney.

Born in Cambridge, MA in 1942 he was the son of the late, Joseph H. and Ethel T. (Corndell) Lunney.

Dan was a man who gave to everyone he met. Professionally he was an executive in the home improvement industry, retiring from Mario’s Roofing in Stoughton in 2023. He respected his customers (many of whom became friends) by insuring that the job he sold was completed to the highest standards. He was a leader, a teacher, and a mentor to all who needed him. He was generous in many ways; with money, attention, concern and assistance. A person who could always be counted on to help, he never said no. Dan would be there to take care of whatever needed to be done.

Dan loved his family and friends, deeply and sincerely. He was a terrific husband, father/dad, grampa/papa, godfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and dear friend. Dan graduated from Brighton High School. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Ossipee, New Hampshire, boating on Lake Ossipee, fishing, golfing, and hanging at “The Clubhouse” under the tree with neighbors overlooking Bearcamp River. For many years he cruised the streets in his white 1957 Thunderbird. His grandchildren brought him the most joy, and he was always their biggest champion, keeping him busy attending countless events.

In addition to Rose, his devoted wife of 29 years, he is survived by the loves of his life, Joanne Carty (Tim), Suzanne Walsh (Richard), Michael Lunney (Amy) and Christine Cahoon (Jim). He was a beloved grampa/papa to Alicia, Tom, Shannon, Patrick, Andrew, Carmella and Cecilia. Dan is also survived by his former wife and friend, Shirley Martin. Dan was predeceased in life by his brothers, Thomas Lunney and Joseph Lunney.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 3-6 pm at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., Natick, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of the Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon, MA. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Pond St., Natick.
