David Hay, Sr (Ret. Newton Police Dept) Obituary

David G. Hay Sr. “Dave”, (Ret.) Newton Police Dept. formerly of West Newton and 55 year resident of Natick, died after a long illness March 13, 2026.  A proud veteran, David served in the U.S. Army Military Police (553rd Army Military Police and 101st Airborne Division) from 1966-1968. He continued his commitment to public service with a distinguished 33-year career with the Newton Police Department.  Beloved Husband of 57 years to Mary (Halloran) Hay; high school sweetheart since senior prom and built a lifetime of cherished memories. 

Devoted & loving father of David Hay Jr. and his wife Beth of Columbia, SC, Jennifer Hay of Milford, MA, Suzanne DiBlasi and her husband Michael DiBlasi of Canton, GA.  Dear eldest brother of pre-deceased Richard Hay Jr and his wife Gayle of W. Newton, Gregory Hay and his wife Regina of Plymouth, the late Charlotte Hay of W. Newton, Cynthia Hay of Framingham, Warren Hay of Worcester, Laurie Reynolds and her late husband Stephen of Plymouth, Marilyn Player and her husband George of Weymouth, Allison Lane and her husband Gene of Plymouth.  Cherished grandfather of Katie and Ally DiBlasi, Megan Potts and her husband Grant of Canton, GA, Tristan Hay of Milford, MA.  Son of the late Richard Hay Sr. and Ruth (Garry) Hay.  Son-in-Law of the late Stephen Halloran and Margaret (Quinn) Halloran.  In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the John Everett & Son’s Funeral Home, 4 Park St. Natick, MA on Wednesday March 18th at 9am, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of David’s Life at St. Linus’s Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 10am.  Interment with Military and Police Dept. Honors will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.  Visiting hours on Tuesday March 17th from 4-8pm in the funeral home
