David John Killeen, 79, of Sherborn and Millis Massachusetts sadly passed away at home on July 3rd with his family by his side after a courageous battle with acute leukemia. Born in 1946, he grew up in Natick, Massachusetts. After graduating from Marian High School (Framingham) in 1964, he went on to become one of the most accomplished builders in the trade, known for his skill, integrity and dedication. David was passionate about many things- his work, community, cooking, fishing, and carpentry. He found peace and joy at Sebago Lake, cherished quiet moments at sunset, and loved the sound of loon calls. But above all else, David was devoted to his family, who were the true center of his life.
Those who knew David will remember him for his more than forty years of dedicated community service in Sherborn, where he served on numerous committees and town organizations. He was especially enthusiastic about his 35 years with the Sherborn Fire and Rescue, his work preserving the Sherborn Town Forest, and his instrumental role in the restoration of the historic 1858 Town House into the Sherborn Community Center. David was always generous with his time and knowledge, ready to lend a hand whenever needed. His unwavering dedication and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
David was predeceased by his parents, John D. and Mary L. (Moresi) Killeen of Natick; his brother, Joseph T. Killeen, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his son, Christopher G. Killeen of Natick.
David is survived by his son Matthew Killeen and his wife Elizabeth of Belmont, as well as his son Sean Killeen and his wife Christina of Sherborn. Cherished grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren, Brenna, Cate, Chandler, Trevor and Tommy. He leaves his loving sister Anne K. Morse and her husband James of Denver, Colorado, nephew Ryan, and nieces Sarah and Kathleen as well as his sister Elizabeth Killeen of Natick.
He is also survived by his partner of 22 years, Diane Postizzi of Millis. To Diane, her children, Jackie and John, and her grandchildren, Luciana and Tucker, Dave was more than a companion- he was family. His kindness, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting impact on their lives.
As per his wishes, there will be no services, just wonderful memories. Donations in his memory can be made to Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org), his preferred charity.
