Dennis P. Crockett

Dennis P. Crockett, 73, of Natick passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 5, 2020.  He was the loving husband of Linda (Johnson) Crockett for 37 years. Dennis was born in Brockton and raised in Whitman with his sister Debra, by the late Paul and Louise (Barry) Crockett. Devoted to his wife and children, Dennis’ life centered around his family. Along with his wife, Dennis leaves his four children, Kimberly Crockett of Panama City Beach, Florida, Kris Dooley and her husband Brian of Colfax, North Carolina, Alyssa Regalia and her husband Ryan, and Heather Crockett, all of Natick. Grampy to Derringer Dooley and Grandpa to his three grand-dogs, Bentley, Bode & Barley. Also survived by his father-in-law, William Johnson and many extended family members.

Dennis was a devoted civilian team member of the Department of Defense for 38 years. His career started at the Boston Naval Shipyard, where he worked for three years before joining the team at the US. Army Natick Labs. Dennis worked as a Prototype Machinist in the Lab’s Machine Shop for 20 years, followed by being an accomplished Equipment Specialist for the Aerial Delivery Engineering Support Team for the Research Development & Engineering Command in Natick. In January 2007, Dennis retired from his service to the Department of the Army. Six short months after retirement, he continued to follow his passion for advancing parachute delivery systems for the military with the team at LEIDOS, traveling monthly until March 2020. Dennis’ outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment to supporting the US. Army was undeniable throughout his entire career.

Dennis’ summer months were spent along Linda’s side with the sand between their toes and a drink in their hands at their home on Buttermilk Bay in Bourne. He enjoyed fishing, clamming and grilling out on the deck. You could often find Dennis laughing at his daughters or sneaking off to take a nap in his favorite chair. Dennis always surrounded himself with people he loved. He was a Life Member of the Natick Auxiliary VFW Post 1274 and also the Southborough Rod & Gun Club. He was a NRA Life Member and displayed his patriotism proudly each day. Dennis taught us all to be meticulous, to pay attention to the small details and to always take care of each other.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to honor Dennis on Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home (www.everettfuneral.com) 4 Park St., at Natick Common. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Natick. Visiting hours in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home are Thursday, July 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Face masks should be worn. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Dennis’ name to Massachusetts General Hospital’s Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
