Donald J McIver Obituary
Donald “Don” J. McIver Age 95 of Natick passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday September 8, 2026.
Son of the late Veronica McIver. Beloved Husband of the late Elvara “Elvie” F. McIver of Natick. Devoted father of Maureen McIver of Falmouth; James McIver and his wife Marthanne of Natick; Kathy McDaniel of Natick and her late husband Michael; Susan Kiggen and her husband Joseph of Natick. Proud Pa to Katie McIver, Lauren McIver and her fiancé Zack Nagode, Abigail and Sarah Kiggen, and Caroline McDaniel.
Don was born and raised in Natick graduating from Natick High School in 1948. He was a star hockey player at Natick High, leading the Eastern Mass League in scoring his senior season as a co-captain of the team. Don went on to attend Boston College where he also played hockey, graduating with a BSBA in Marketing in 1953.
After college Don joined the Marines, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. Upon honorable discharge from the Marines, he enjoyed a long career with New England Telephone until retiring early at the breakup. Don then began a second career as a travel agent running McIver and Bisch Travel with his daughter Kathy. This allowed Don to travel the world with his wife Elvie, including many great trips with their friends Fran and Blanche Ciccarelli.
Though he loved to travel he was just as happy spending time with his extended family in Wells Maine or golfing with friends. Don will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to laugh at anything, including himself.
Don’s family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers Kaidy, Nancy, Lydia and Kerry for helping to make the most out of his final years. And, Good Shepherd Community Care, especially Dana for their compassionate care.
Donations in Don’s name can be made to St Joseph’s Indian School of Chamberlain, SD, of which Don was an avid supporter.
