Donald (Don) W. Bongiovi
Don was born on December 8, 1937, and passed away at age 87 on February 27, 2025, after complications from a long-term battle of debilitating neurological disease. Don is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Camille (née Pasqua) of 62 years, daughter Carolee Maclellan, son-in-law Allan, six nephews, including the late Robert Bongiovi and one niece. Don is also predeceased by his brother Lou and sister Rosemary.
Don grew up in Richmond Hill, NY, raised his family in Seaford, NY and enjoyed retirement at Woodloch Springs in Hawley, PA. Don and his wife moved to Massachusetts in 2014 to reside closer to their daughter.
After graduating high school, Don obtained an entry level position in the mail room at Equitable Life but persevered to earn his BA at night from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn and subsequently, his MBA from Adelphi’s “on wheels” program (wherein he attended class on early commuter trains to NYC). Don retired in 1992 as a senior officer and bond portfolio manager at Equitable Capital.
After retirement, Don enjoyed traveling with his wife on many tours and cruise ships as well as spending many years as “snow birds” in Florida.
Aside from business, Don also always made time to attend all of his daughter’s important events whether it included attending ridiculous band concerts or climbing through crowds to video tape her twirling in the St Patty’s Day parade in NYC and notably, missing a conference hosted by Michael Milken to attend her sweet sixteen celebration. Don also contributed his time to many charitable community, booster and scholarship programs and events in Seaford.
Don was honorably discharged from the army of the US in 1963.
A well-lived life. Rest in peace Don. You will be missed and loved always.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Church, 134 Cochituate Road, Wayland on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
