Dorothy J. “Dottie” (SanClemente) Whalen of Natick passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. She was 87 years old and born in Natick to the late Joseph and Gianina (DeBernardi) SanClemente. Devoted mother of Julie Corkery and spouse Steven of Natick, Richard Whalen and spouse Krista of Charleston SC, and Dianne Whalen of Natick. Loving grandmother of Sydney, Sienna, Jenna, and Ryan. Cherished sister of Robert SanClemente and Barbara, and the late Joseph SanClemente and Mary. Dorothy is the former spouse of the late Richard Whalen of Natick, and survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Natick High School, class of 55, she enjoyed cheerleading, Student Council, and social clubs in addition to academic pursuits. Dorothy went on to graduate from the Chandler School for Women in Boston and then worked for many years as a medical secretary primarily at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.
Possessing a very warm and generous spirit, Dorothy was always willing to listen, help, and be a friend. Over the years she enjoyed summer weekends by the ocean in Marshfield socializing with loved ones. Family gatherings were also very special to her, as well as spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Additionally she had enthusiasm for dancing, music, and reading suspense novels.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 44 East Central St, Natick, on Wednesday July 9th at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday July 8th from 4:30pm - 7pm at the John Everett Funeral Home, 4 Park St, in Natick MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
