Florence E. (Hennessey) Parrinello in Waltham, formerly of Newton, Natick, and Bridgeport, CT. Passed away on February 9, 2024. Beloved mother of Christopher A. Parrinello and his wife Sue of Marlborough and Michael J. Parrinello and his wife Amy E. of Medway. Dear sister of John Hennessey and his late wife Marianne of CT, Joseph Hennessey of NC, David Hennessey and his wife Rose of CT, and William Hennessey and his wife Joyce of CT. Loving grandmother of Michael, Trevor, Joseph, Sean, and Matthew. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Florence Parrinello was born in Bridgeport CT to Joseph and Dorothy Rose Hennessey. She attended St. Ann’s school across the street from the family home, and then St. Mary’s High School. She attended the College of New Rochelle before deciding to change majors and follow in “Gram” Hennessey's footsteps and attend Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. She went to work at NE Deaconess Hospital as an ER nurse - moving over to Newton Wellesley Hospital, and ultimately teaching nursing at Mass General's Shepherd-Gill School of Nursing. Flo loved to sing and was a proud member of the St. Patrick’s parish choir and also the Wellesley Chorale Society. She was very proud to have travelled to Rome to sing with the St. Pat’s Choir. In the 80’s she was quite the Celtics fan, even meeting KC Jones, Robert Parish, and legendary broadcaster Mike Gorman – although her favorite player was Tiny Archibald. She was passionate about her involvement with St. Linus, teaching CCD with her dear friend Donna Sandler, her volunteer work with the Samaritans, and in watching her boys in Little League, rec league basketball and school concerts. More than anything she loved family and cherished special times and family vacations with her brothers and their families, the legends of which are still being shared at least annually at family gatherings in Massachusetts and Connecticut alike.
