Gaetano “Big Guy” Spadano, 84, of Natick, MA, Falmouth, MA, and Naples, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 25th, 2023. He was the cherished husband of the late Assunta (Salvatore) Spadano, to whom he was married for 57 years.
Devoted father of Linda DiFonzo and her husband Paul of Medway, Lorraine Spadano of Natick, Robert Spadano and his wife Sherri of Cumberland, RI, Lisa DeLuca and her husband Pasquale of Natick. Loving Nono of Nicholas Spadano, Marisa DiFonzo, Domenic DiFonzo, Mario DeLuca, Marina DeLuca, Sofia DeLuca, Juliana Spadano, Rocco DeLuca, Maya Spadano and Lucas Spadano. Beloved brother of Lucia D’Amelio, Maria Martelli, and the late Carmela DeCamp, and Concetta Casalanguida. He will be missed by family and friends across the US, Canada and Italy.
Born in Lanciano, Italy, Gaetano moved to the US to start his family. He worked as an upholsterer at Avery’s Upholstery before branching out on his own as the owner of Guy’s Upholstery until retiring in 2002 after 40 years in the business. He was a member of the Wellesley Italian American Club, an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing bocce and Italian cards. Most of all, Gaetano loved a good party, enjoyed traveling and sharing a meal with his family.
Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, on Thursday, August 31st at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will take place in Glenwood Cemetery, 25 Glenwood Street, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
