Gilda June Beard Naranjo (Toscano), 96, of Natick, passed away February 5, 2026. Born to the late Joseph and Theresa Toscano, Gilda was a graduate of Belmont High School (1948) where she excelled as an athlete and captain.
A woman of quiet determination, Gilda put herself through nursing school and served as a nurse at Leonard Morse Hospital for over 35 years.
A Natick resident since 1958, Gilda’s greatest joy was the family she raised with her home being the gathering place everyone felt welcomed and loved. Her life also held deep love across two chapters. Her love for Charlie Beard in her younger years, and later her love and devotion to her sole-mate Charlie Naranjo.
She is survived by her five children: Karen and her husband Bob Fay of Natick, Massachusetts, Gary Beard of Natick, Paul Beard of Longboat Key, Florida, Lisa Looby of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Dan Beard and his wife Andrea of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Justin, Jesse, Mackenzie, Kelsey, and Kendal, Martin, Kyle, and Katherine, Zach, Zoey Ally, and Hailey; her sister, Theresa DeNutte; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six siblings.
In a final letter to her family, Gilda wrote: "Always remember—those we love never go away… they walk beside you every day, unheard but always there."
Calling hours will be at John J. Everett & Sons Funeral Home, Natick, on Monday February 9 from 3:30 to 7:30pm. Her Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday February 10 at 10AM followed by burial at St Patrick’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at VFW on West Central St Natick at 12pm.
