Harry McKenna Obituary

Harry D. McKenna of Westborough / Natick passed away on August 5, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada growing up in the town of Iona the youngest of nine children.

He was the son of the late Wilfred McKenna and Doretta (Griffin) McKenna.  Harry was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette (McDonald) McKenna and devoted father of Maureen McKenna-Weber and her husband Scott Weber of Westborough, Robert McKenna and his wife Jennifer (McInnes) McKenna of Milton, Paul McKenna of Denver, CO and the late Stephen McKenna and his surviving wife Tracy (Gorman) McKenna of Westborough.  Loving Papa of Jack, Mae, Henleigh, Callan, and Griffin.  He was the brother of James McKenna, Mary Hunt, Margaret Connelly, Andrew McKenna, Rose Trainor, Alice Butts, and Joan Daley and is survived by many loved nieces and nephews and their families.  Harry was also often the second father or new favorite uncle to many relatives, friends, and neighbors who were part of our family life over the years…  He always found a way to connect with people one on one with love, laughter, and perhaps a little smart-ass…

Some of you might be familiar with the term “fleabag”.  Harry was also fortunate enough to have found, developed, and cherished a brotherhood and friendship with the MacKinnon Clan whose love of all-things family matched his own. Harry was an Army Veteran, a Carpenter, and longtime member of the Canadian American Club of Watertown.  Life as a part of the Club was filled with Celtic & country music, square dances, field trips, and family dinners.  Sharing these things together helped us to love and appreciate our roots and keep those things true as part of our lives.  He and good friend Sil Dirico together were able to keep the Club candlepin bowling league running for over 35 years…  Of which many wonderful families and friends were a part of.
