James Clayton (Clay) Hartley, 67, of Natick, MA passed away on August 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, brother, friend, and “Bank” (to his grandsons). Clay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Clay was born on April 15, 1957 in Boston, the son of the late Robert and Mary (Connolly) Hartley, and moved to Natick in 1971. Clay graduated from Newton Technical School and spent his professional career as a mechanic at Boston Edison for 37 years. Clay was a member of the Natick Elks and the Hudson Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed spending his free time throughout the many years he was a member.
Clay is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his brother Robert Hartley and his wife Chris; sister Jude Hartley; nephew Robert Hartley and his wife Kelli along with great nieces, Ava and Ella Hartley; step-daughter Kristina Law and her husband Mike; and step-daughter Jacquelyn Rielly.
Clay will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Riley Chiccarelli, and Hunter and Sawyer Law, who brought him so much joy and whom he loved deeply. Clay was predeceased by his sister-in-law Anne Hartley and his beloved nephew, Jeffrey Hartley.
The Hartley family is appreciative to the loving staff at Care Dimensions for their support and making Clay’s last days peaceful and comfortable. To honor Clay’s wishes, there will be no services.
