James Scurlock Obituary

December 22, 1952 – August 14, 2026

James “Jim” Scurlock, of Natick MA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 14, 2026, at the age of 73 after a courageous 9-month battle with Glioblastoma. Jim was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Schenectady. NY.

Jim was the loving husband of Patricia (Pat) Scurlock (formerly Walsh) with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Marjorie Scurlock and father of the late Kate Jenkins (formerly Scurlock) who passed from Glioblastoma in October 2024.

Jim was the loving father of daughters Elisabeth (Lisa) Scurlock and Victoria (Tori) Scurlock.  Lisa and her husband, Peter Mazza, live in Natick currently. Tori and her partner, Chris Hunter, live in Nags Head, NC.  Jim also leaves behind his son-in-law, Will Jenkins, and his beloved grandson Jackson. Jim is survived by Meg Heisse of Maryland and many cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from Nasson College in Maine and went on to get his MBA at Suffolk University. He began his banking career in Newton, MA at Mutual Bank where he met his wife, Pat. He then worked for the Bank of New England, Wang Laboratories, Digital Equipment, Cap Gemini, EDS and retired with Hewlitt-Packard.  His work took him to 40+ countries to consult. His family had the opportunity to move and live in Stockholm, Sweden and Ascot, England. During his career, Jim was interviewed by CNN, MSNBC Bloomberg and CBS MarketWatch. Jim had a strong passion for global finance.

He sat on the Natick Finance Committee for 5 years and volunteered at the Natick Service Council for 12 years with time spent on the board.

Jim, Pat and family enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba and Grand Cayman where Jim and Tori got certified and developed a love of diving. Jim loved spending time surfing on the Cape at White Crest with his daughters and friends and time in West Hyannisport. Jim’s favorite place was relaxing in his backyard at the pool, dubbed his 5-star resort, with a good playlist, neighbors, a bottle of wine and the grill going. Jim loved time he spent with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandson.

Visiting Hours will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, NATICK COMMON, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
