Janet (Meyers) O’Reilly of Natick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Natick, she was the daughter of the late Katherine (McDonald) and Frederick Meyers.
Janet was the devoted wife of the late John O’Reilly and is survived by three adoring daughters, Kathleen O’Reilly of South Natick, Maureen O’Reilly and her fiance Ethan Mutschler of South Natick, and Suzanne Elliott and her husband Scott of Holliston. She also leaves three outstanding grandsons, Scott, Jack and Brett Elliott, and her brothers, James Meyers of California and Fred Meyers of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Janet graduated from Natick High School in 1955 where she was the spirited captain of the cheerleading squad and secretary of her class. You could not meet a more kind or thoughtful person who put everyone else’s needs above her own. She was devoted to her family, church and community. Her ever-present smile, fantastic sense of humor and care for others allowed her to make friends in every situation. Janet and John built a wonderful life in their hometown where she was a supportive member of Sacred Heart Church as well as a dedicated Girl Scout volunteer and an enthusiastic school volunteer in South Natick as her daughters were growing up. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her beloved family and friends, performing random acts of kindness and cheering on her grandsons’ athletic teams.
Visiting hours will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 5-7PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. Patrick Church, 44 East Central St., Natick at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Janet’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or perform a random act of kindness for someone this holiday season.
The family would like to especially thank Janet’s caregiver, Aura Chinchilla, and the caring staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital for their dedication.
