Janet Susan (Hooper) Martin, 67, of Framingham set sail on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at home surrounded by family and friends after a brief and unexpected bout with cancer.
Janet was born in Boston on March 12, 1957, and not long thereafter moved to Framingham where she attended school and graduated from Framingham North High. Following high school she spent a year in college (partying) on the Cape.
In the following years she worked as a waitress and mixologist bartender at the Sea & Surf, Emersons, and John Stones Inn. Janet was a past president of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary in Wayland, MA. Janet was also a member of the Hull Yacht Club for over 20 years where she cherished the time spent on the Two Sons II with her friends and family, she served as the head of the entertainment committee for 3 years. In her last 25 years (or so) she was the office manager of local fuel companies.
Janet developed an uncanny love of her summer cottage and the beautiful community by the sea known as Peaks Island, ME. Janet was athletic and through the years she played tennis and softball, skied both snow and water, and was an accomplished “Fisherperson” (girl power).
Janet’s wit, humor, smile, laughter, and love of people and life will be missed by all. Janet leaves in her wake her loving husband Bill Martin, of Framingham; Stepson, Christopher M. Martin and his wife Wendie, of Bellingham. She was the loving Mema of Kylie (“Sweet Pea”), Erin (“Lady bug”), and Mollie (“Sugar Plop”). Janet was the cherished sister of Robert F. Hooper Jr. and his wife Candace, of Tucson, AZ, Richard J. Hooper and his wife Stephanie, of Marlborough, Paul A. Hooper and his wife Mary Ellen, of Framingham, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Lynch, of Weymouth. Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janet is preceded in death by her (pride and joy) son, Evan R. Martin; her parents, Robert and Jane Hooper; in-laws, Bill and Wiggy Martin, and many other missed relatives.
