Janice M. McGrath, 79, of Natick, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 11, 1945, in Natick, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Murphy) Doucette.
Janice was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her children: Shawn McGrath and his wife, Sharon; Kerrie Hebert; Paul McGrath and his wife, Geraldine; Sharon Hebert and her partner, Jim McLaughlin; and Tim McGrath and his wife, Rachel. Janice was the adored Nana of ten grandchildren: Larissa, Justin, Ryan, Carson, Danielle, Shawn, Arianna, Walter, Sean, and Maddie. She was lovingly known as "Nana-Nana" to her great-grandchildren: Jax, Maisie, Ryker, Sawyer, and Harrison.
She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Patricia Higgins, Rose Collins, and Margaret Potter, and was predeceased by her brother Tom Doucette and her granddaughter Helen, who held a particularly precious place in her heart. Although Helen predeceased her, their bond remains eternal as they now embrace each other in heaven.
Janice was a caring woman who filled her life with love, devotion and hospitality. She delighted in cooking and baking, hosting elaborate gatherings where her homemade dishes and family tradition brought people together. Summers at York Beach with family, filled with campfires and marshmallow roasting, were among her most treasured times. She also had a special way with young people, bringing joy to children with her kindness, generosity and warmth (and sneaking yummy treats to them whenever she could).
