Jeanne C. (Magee) Ordway Obituary
Jeanne C. (Magee) Ordway, of Natick, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born in Boston on May 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Wheeler) Magee and was raised in Stoughton. She spent her adult life in Natick, where she built a home filled with family, friends, and countless happy memories.
Jeanne was the beloved wife of the late Albert L. Ordway Sr., Deputy Fire Chief of Natick. They shared 59 years of marriage before his passing. She was the devoted mother of the late Albert L. Ordway Jr., Deputy Fire Chief of Framingham; loving grandmother of Kathryn Ordway and her husband Ralph of Adelaide, Australia and Albert L. Ordway III and his wife Lucy, of Woburn; cherished sister of Carol Crowell and the late Harold and William Magee; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Jacqueline Crowell of Natick, Linda Ordway and her husband Rich of Natick, and Joe Ordway of Milford.
For many years, Jeanne worked as a hairdresser at the former Total Image salon in Natick. Hairdressing was her lifelong career, and she enjoyed the opportunity it provided to connect with people.
Jeanne found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending her flower and vegetable gardens and could often be found sitting on the ground weeding throughout the summer. She enjoyed knitting gifts for family and friends, baking cookies, and pies—especially during the holidays—and making sure everyone felt welcome in her home. Neighborhood children knew Nana's house was the place to find ice cream treats, a cold soda, and a kind smile.
To her grandchildren, she was simply Nana. They fondly remember her homemade fried dough, family gatherings, and the warmth and comfort she brought to every occasion.
For many years, Jeanne spent winters in Florida with Al Sr and her sister Carol, enjoying days filled with fishing, card games, laughter, and friendship. Whether at home in Natick or in the Florida sunshine, she valued time spent with those she loved most.
Jeanne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to family. Her warmth touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will continue to live on in those whose lives she enriched.
