Joan F. (Mullevey) Filippone

Joan F. Filippone, 90, of Windsor, CT, formerly of Braintree, MA, died peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Kimberly Hall North, Windsor, CT.

Born in North Conway, NH, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Sarah F. (Beane) Mullevey.

Joan had a passion for learning, earning degrees from Boston College, Boston State, and Eastern Nazarene College. She went on to work as an educator for the Quincy Public Schools for 30 years, retiring in 2002.  Still, she never stopped learning, taking many adult education classes at Regis College.

She had a passion for life and loved her many family and friends. She embraced her Irish heritage, enjoyed old movies celebrating with her “odd squad” friends, the movies of the 40’s. She was very proud of her Boston roots and always had a quick story to share of her childhood in Dorchester and associated parish. Her positive spirit and kind heart attracted many people to want to be a part of her life. She enjoyed overseas travel and was an avid follower of politics.

By far her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Robert Filippone and his wife Desiree of Arlington, VA, Stephen Filippone of Charlotte, NC, and Gerald Filippone and his wife Patricia of Saugus, MA, two daughters, Maryanne Petry and her husband Don of Ashland, MA, and Susan Dubocq and her husband Bill of Suffield, CT, and twelve grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, from 8:30-9:30AM.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St., Natick.  Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 180 Pond St., Natick.
