John Bachelder Obituary

John Mason Bachelder, 70, of Natick, MA, passed away peacefully on April 14th, 2024 in New Port Richey, FL.

John was born on November 25th, 1953 to the late Roger Bachelder, and the late Priscilla (Hadley) Bachelder. John is survived by his three daughters, Crystal Bachelder of Shrewsbury, MA, Tiffany Street of Clearwater, FL, and Rachel Bachelder of Natick, MA. He also leaves his brother Roger Bachelder and his wife Jean of Franklin, MA, his sister Diane Gedney of Alton Bay, NH, and his two granddaughters, Savannah Rose and Charlotte Mae. He was predeceased by his sister Priscilla Jordan. John was also survived by beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

“Johnny B” was raised in South Natick and attended Natick High School with the class of 1971. He left high school to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps from February 1971 to January 1974. John’s selfless service as a Corporal earned him details at the National Security Agency. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #10167, American Legion #173, and Amvets #98. John was incredibly proud of his service to his country, and his patriotism was second to none. Following his years in the service, you could find him working as a contractor for MacGregor building and remodeling, or refinishing cars at DiCicco's Auto Body. Johnny had an affinity for vintage cars, especially his 1971 cherry red Cutlass Supreme convertible.

John’s two biggest passions in life were sports and music. In his spare time, he coached Natick recreation boys and girls basketball. He enjoyed playing guitar, wedding singing, and practicing with his sister Priscilla. When he wasn’t playing his guitar, you could catch him on a cruise in his convertible. John’s summers were spent by the beach in Wellfleet or playing Natick slow pitch summer league softball.

In 2014, John achieved his life long dream of buying a beach home in Florida and escaping the New England winters. Since then, he created his own schedule of all of the veteran karaoke nights in the New Port Richey area. He made countless friendships in Tampa that were very special to him. However, John would agree that his biggest accomplishments were his girls.

He will be sorely missed by all who loved him. There is peace in knowing that he is playing his guitar with the angels.

Family and friends in Massachusetts are invited to John’s celebration of life at the VFW, 113 West Central Street, Natick, MA on June 2nd from 2-5pm.
