John L. Donahue, 84, of Natick, MA, passed away, Thursday, July 27, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, MA.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Patricia A. (Urlass) Donahue.
Born in Wellesley, MA, he was the son of the late Edwin and Sarah (MacEachern) Donahue.
John worked as a police officer for the Town of Natick for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. John was a graduate of Wellesley High School, Class of 1957 and later earned his associates degree from Mass Bay Community College. He served two terms on the Quinobin Regional Vocational Technical School Committee, served as the former director and president of the Natick Housing Authority and served on the board for the MetroWest Federal Credit Union. He was an active member of the Natick Elks and enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Red Sox fan. John’s favorite past times were enjoying the beach in Naples, FL and York Beach, ME with his friends and family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mark J. Donahue and his wife Liz of Natick, MA, Kevin M. Donahue and his wife Mary Ann of Natick, MA, and Scott A. Donahue and his wife Jennifer of Marion, MA, a daughter, Pamela J. Stapleton of Medway, MA, a sister, Katherine Papazian of Hudson, MA, seven grandchildren, Brendon, Ryan, Jack, Kayla, Julia, Patrick and Kyle, and one great granddaughter, Isabelle. He was also the father-in-law of the late Brian Stapleton, grandfather of the late Michael Donahue and brother of the late James Donahue, Edwin Donahue and Sally Casavant.
Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 9AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, 25 Glenwood St., Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
