John Evans Fader Obituary
John Evans Fader of Sudbury MA age 70, died unexpectedly at Newton Wellesley Hospital on March 22nd, 2026. He had been sent to Marlboro Hospital for a routine pre-operative exam for a long-anticipated corrective knee surgery, but spiked a high fever and was transferred to Newton-Wellesley for further evaluation. After extensive testing he was diagnosed with a MRSA infection and metastatic melanoma and shortly passed away.
John was born in 1955, the only son of Horace E. Fader and Mildred F. (Iskierski) Fader, longtime residents of Natick, MA. John was raised in Natick and attended public school there, graduating from Natick High School in 1973.
In 1979, John graduated from Framingham State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. He later returned to FSC to complete additional coursework to earn his MA Teacher’s Certification and enjoyed teaching American History at Marlborough High School for ten years during which time he earned the distinction of being named ‘Teacher of the Year.’
As a young man, John was a member of the Meridian Lodge of Natick for several years. He also was an avid fisherman and cross-country skier, and an accomplished sailor. He sailed for pleasure for many years aboard the Cat’s Paw with his father and family members in Narragansett Bay and successfully crewed with his sister Jean for his brother-in-law Ned Hines in several lightning-class sailing regattas on Bow Lake in New Hampshire.
John also had been an excellent drummer and member of a local musician’s union. He played several private gigs with Italo Demasi’s Band and with his father Horace ‘Doc’ Fader, as well as drumming for the Natick Marching Band in many parades in Natick and surrounding communities.
He had been a happy resident of Sudbury Pines Extended Care in Sudbury, MA for many years before his sudden and surprising decline. John will be missed by his many friends and staff members there as well as by his family members, old friends, and neighbors. Many thanks to all the staff at Sudbury Pines for giving John the kind care and attention he needed.
John is survived by his sister Judith A. Fader and partner Janet M. Pytlak of Tewksbury, MA, and by his many cousins and dear friends.
