John Joseph “Jack” Flynn, III of Natick passed away at home on May 15, 2024. Born in Brookline, MA on January 13, 1942, Jack grew up in Wellesley, MA. graduating Wellesley High, class of 1960. He served in the United States Air Force being honorably discharged in 1966. He was well recognized for racing his “67 Barracuda at various New England drag races from 67-72. After cars came the boats, which was only natural as Jack had a lifelong love of the ocean, starting with summers in Scituate, MA as a young boy with his family. In his later years he enjoyed Falmouth, MA as his home away from home.
Jack’s long career in the automotive industry included Lee Chevrolet, Lee Imported Cars, and Boston Volvo. Cars were his true passion, a hobby that lasted with his ’41 Ford Street rod and ‘91 Mercedes SE, his pride and joy. He was a longtime member of both the Wellesley Modifiers and the Natick Elks.
Jack leaves behind his best friend and partner Adele (Levay) Smith, their dog Daisy, and his extended Levay/Smith family members. In addition, he is survived by his sister Cheryl Kearns and her husband Robert of Fort Meyers, Florida and his niece Felicia Flynn Roche and her husband Thomas of Dennis, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers the late Richard and Charles “Teddy” Flynn. Burial service is to be private, with a celebratory gathering held in his honor to follow. Pass along a gentle smile, a kind word and you will be sharing a bit of Jack with the world.
