John Spiegel Of Natick, passed away on Wednesday November 15, 2023, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, he was the son of the late Laszlo and Irene (Heinrich) Spiegel. Beloved husband of over 57 years to the late Marilyn (Zucker) Spiegel of Natick. Devoted father of Andrew M. Spiegel and his wife Patricia of Tewksbury, and Robert A. Spiegel and his longtime companion Tieraney Flynn of Natick. Proud grandfather of Zachary Spiegel of Tewksbury.
John settled in the United States in 1956 with his mother in New York to complete his master’s degree. After earning his degree, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1959 where he began his career as a professor of Russian language at Northeastern University. During his 53-year career he also earned his PhD and became a published author. He met his soon to be wife Marilyn shortly after arriving in Boston and they were married in 1964. He moved to Natick in 1971 where he raised his family and retired from teaching in 2012. After retirement, he enjoyed maintaining his vegetable garden, reading, travelling, and swimming in the summertime at Dug Pond in Natick. He was at his happiest being able to live in his home and spending time with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at the Framingham-Natick Jewish Cemetery, Windsor Ave., Natick on Tuesday November 21st at 11:00 am.
