Judith Murphy Obituary

Judith "Judy" Lorraine (McGuire) Murphy, 87, of Natick passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2024, with her family by her side.

Judy was born on March 25, 1937, in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of James and Margaret McGuire. Judy was raised in Chestnut Hill and was a 1954 graduate of Brookline High school. She was a Natick resident for sixty years.

Judy is predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Philip P. Murphy in 2014; her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Adams (John), formerly of Natick, and Alice Jenkins, formerly of Westover, MD, and her brother-in-law, Robert Mahony, formerly of East Dennis.

She was the loving mother of Glenn Murphy, of Medway, Gregg Murphy and his wife Donna, of Natick, cherished grandmother of Paige Murphy, of Medway, and Hailey Murphy, of Natick. Judy was the dear sister of Lois Mahony, of East Dennis, sister-in-law of Charlie Jenkins, of Westover, MD, and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Judy worked at Calvert’s in Needham, St. James Parish, in Wellesley, and for the Visiting Nurse Association of Dedham for close to two decades. Judy loved to laugh and to entertain. At a young age she enjoyed singing with her sister Lois as the McGuire Sisters occasionally on local radio programs.

Judy loved the holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, hosting many memorable and fun holiday gatherings with her beloved family and friends. She also loved to dress up for Halloween each year and cherished the time spent with her granddaughters watching their many sports, musical, and dance events. Judy was a big Boston sports fan; she loved shopping and was always dressed smartly for every event and family occasion. Judy did not care much for flying in airplanes, but she very much enjoyed local vacations and travel time spent with family in both Cape Cod and Lake Ossipee, in NH. Judy and Phil also liked occasional road trips to Acadia National Park in Maine and had many enjoyable day trips to Rockport, MA, throughout the years.

A Funeral Service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Natick.
