Kenneth Leip Obituary

Kenneth S. Leip of Leominster, formerly a longtime resident of Natick, passed away on July 13, 2024. Ken was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in both New York and Ashland, MA.  He graduated from Ashland High School in 1964. After graduating he joined the Army and served in Germany for three years. After the military, Ken took a football scholarship to the University of Montana in Missoula where he met his wife, Kathleen Melvin, to whom he was married for 54 years.

His passion for sports spanned his entire lifetime - from playing semi-pro football and baseball to starting his own independent-league baseball team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He served his community for many years by working in law enforcement. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing the drums, and spending time with his family.

He was the son of the late Kathleen (Wallace) and Kenneth Leip,  the beloved husband of Kathleen (Melvin) Leip, devoted father of Denise Leip (Curtis Velazquez), Michelle Leip (Andrés Ugalde Castro), the late Sharon Leip, Brian Leip, David Leip, and Michael Leip, a loving grandfather of Diego Ugalde-Leip, and the cherished brother of Kevin and Keenan Leip and the late Kathleen Ducas.  He is also survived by many extended family members in Massachusetts, Montana, and Costa Rica.
