Kevin Coughlin, 69, of Natick, formerly of Wellesley, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kevin graduated from Xaverian High School, 1974, and Choate Academy, 1975. Throughout his schooling, and thereafter, Kevin was a natural athlete and excelled at any activity he tried whether it was football, baseball, hockey, track & field, etc.

He also attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute before joining his father at Coughlin Plumbing and Heating in Wellesley. After earning his Master Plumber’s license he took over the business, running it for over 30 years.

In addition to his devotion to his family and his exceptional plumbing skills, Kevin was known as the life of the party. He organized many social events, including many golf trips from coast to coast with his golf buddies (who shall remain nameless). As well as being a Master Plumber, he was also a tailgating aficionado, whether it was behind the hockey rink or at his beloved Patriots games. He proudly passed his tailgating skills down to his son, Matt, and daughter, Alanna. Kevin was also an avid bass fisherman, and vegetable gardener, growing various peppers that he used in many of his award winning chilis.

While he had many hobbies, he also had many nicknames that were rightfully bestowed upon him throughout his life due to his shenanigans. Some of his most notable nicknames were “Chicky”, “Mr. Weekend”, and “The Night Train”. 

His legacy will be bringing laughter to all aspects of his life, no one was immune to his one liners and his intoxicating sarcasm, not even the ambulance drivers and his caretakers. Kevin found comfort in his Catholic faith and he will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Marion Coughlin of Naples Florida, formerly Wellesley Massachusetts.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Michelle (McManus) Coughlin of Natick and formerly Wellesley, son Matthew Coughlin and daughter in-law Alli (Faiola) and their 3 children (Quinn, Charlotte, and Cooper), his daughter Alanna Coughlin, and his sister Maureen (and Marc) Kellond of California. He loved being a Papa to his 3 grandchildren, 2 grand-dogs, and two indifferent cats. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family.

Kevin’s wake will be held at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home at 4 Park St. Natick, MA on Wednesday September 2nd from 4pm - 7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church at 44 E Central St. Natick on Thursday September 3rd at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Xaverian Brothers High School or to Prostate Cancer.
