Lawrence Peter O’Regan of Plymouth, formerly of Holliston and Natick, passed away suddenly June 18, 2025. He was born in Newton on October 3, 1948 to the late Lawrence and Doris (Church) O’Regan. Beloved husband of Judith (Wong) O’Regan. Devoted father of Michael P. O’Regan and his wife Patricia Kim of North Andover, Courtney Mei O’Regan and her husband Joe Barry of Holliston, Laura Lin O’Regan and her partner Nick Moore of Somerville. Loving grandfather of Camilla Mei and JT. Cherished brother of Carol Chapman and her husband Ron of Seattle, WA, David O’Regan and his wife Jane of Warren, Anne O’Regan of Industry, ME, Elaine O’Regan-Lloyd of Orleans and the late Mary Monahan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Peter, as he was known to those close to him, was married to the love of his life for 50 years. She was his sanity and guiding light. He was known for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and a no-nonsense attitude softened by his deep love for his family, friends, and dogs.
A consummate athlete, Peter played baseball with the Okinawa Marines during a break from his service in Vietnam. He played football, hockey and baseball at Framingham State. He organized and played in a men’s basketball league in Holliston. He ran the Marine Corps marathon when he turned 50. He was especially proud of his fierce tennis serve- a shot that became part of local legend. He later passed on his passion for sports by coaching his son’s baseball team, being a proud dad of his cheerleading oldest daughter, helping develop his youngest daughter’s love for running, and becoming a regular presence at his granddaughter’s softball games and grandson’s basketball games and karate lessons, always watching from the sidelines with pride.
Peter guided his children with steady, quiet strength and a deep sense of integrity. He was a fixture in their lives as well as a grounding, generous presence in the lives of his grandchildren. Whether it was a spontaneous Dunkin’ run, a beach walk with his spoiled dogs, or a relaxing afternoon with an ice-cold beer in a frosty mug, he made the most out of everyday moments.
