Lewis Valle Obituary

Lewis Walter Valle (Lew), formerly of Natick, died peacefully at age 97 on May 4, 2025, with his daughter at his side.

Lew was born in Natick, MA on December 17, 1927, where he lived for most of his life. He was a 1945 graduate of Natick High School, and served in the US Navy at the conclusion of WWII. Lew married Fay Spooner in 1951. They loved to golf and travel together with family and friends. They were happily married for 52 years until the time of her death.

Lew’s parents and uncles immigrated to the US from Cortina D’Ampezzo in the South Tyrol, and he maintained strong ties to this part of his heritage throughout his life. Lew spent his entire career working in his family’s metal fabrication business, Brighton Iron Works, which was established in Brighton, MA by his father and his uncles. He, his brothers, and a cousin took over the business in the 1950’s. Lew's son joined the business, and carried on the family trade after Lew's retirement.

Lew was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. With his wife and children, he enjoyed ski trips in the winter, camping trips in the summer, and several trips to Cortina to visit his South Tyrolean relatives. Lew was a fixture at his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and stage performances. He was a talented artisan who learned his trade from his father and his uncles. He especially enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

Lew was predeceased by his wife Fay; his parents, August and Angelina Valle; and his older brothers Siro, Leo, and Frank. He is survived by his daughter Sandy Spalding and husband Will, of Morrisville, VT; his son Steven Valle and wife Sheila, of Washington, NH; his cherished granddaughters Whitney Valle, Stevi Valle and wife Autumn, Katie Spalding Long and husband Dan, Eliza Spalding Valle and wife Alison; his great grandson August Long; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, in Morristown, VT.

There will be a private service for family and friends in Natick, MA.
