Margaret Allen Obituary

Margaret M “Peggy” Allen, 97, formerly of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House. She was born at home in Rochester, NY, on February 24, 1926, the daughter of George and Isabella Bogue. She was united in marriage to Harold A. “Red” Allen on September 6, 1947. Her husband, and siblings; Evelyn Ascroft, Helen Crayton, George Bogue, and her twin brother Robert Bogue, as well as her parents, preceded her in death.

Peggy was an avid reader and crafter until her eyesight failed her. She was a prolific knitter, who loved to give away her creations. She was most pleased to have taught her granddaughter Cate how to knit, encouraging her in the hobby.

She was a homemaker and mother, a daughter of Scottish immigrants, and a hard-working person full of love, concern, and compassion with many lifelong friends. As a young woman working at Kodak, her roommates included Shirley Carr, and Betty Schimerhorn, both of whom recently passed away. They, along with Millie Chase stayed in contact for over 85 years. She was able to reach out to many friends just before her death, expressing her love. Peggy’s greatest joy was her family and friends and wanted you all to know she loved you. She was a member of St. John’s the Evangelist Church for most of her adult life.

Peggy is survived by her daughter; Judy Duffy and her husband Frank of Holliston, MA. Son; Dan Allen and his wife Jan of The Woodlands, TX. Grandchildren; Jeff Allen and his wife Karrie of The Woodlands, TX, Kevin Duffy and his wife Allison of Framingham, MA, Glen Duffy and fiancée Natalie Dorfneilsen of Waltham, MA and Catherine Duffy of Holliston, MA. Great Grandchildren; Abram Allen, Braxton Allen, and Patrick Duffy, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family of Peggy Allen expresses their sincere appreciation to the relatives and friends for the comforting messages of sympathy and prayers extended to us during the loss of our loved one.
