Marjorie (Marge) Norma Boyle Duffy, formerly of Chatham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 19th, 2024. Marge was born in Bayonne, NJ on August 20, 1931. She was the daughter of Margaret (O’Connor) Boyle and Norman Boyle. She was predeceased by siblings Eleanor and infant Norman Jr, husband Francis (Frank) G. Duffy 2nd, and daughter Kathleen Duffy Wallace of Henniker, NH.
Marge and Frank were married on June 28, 1958, and were blessed with a set of twin girls Maryellen and Kathleen, followed by sons Frank, Brian and Michael. She leaves behind Maryellen Ward of Southborough, MA, sons Frank and wife Judy of Holliston, MA, Brian and wife Kai of Natick, MA and Michael of Portland, OR.
Also survived by her grandchildren Devon Ward and fiancee Nikki Sims of Temple, NH, Olivia Duffy of Mansfield, MA, Ian Duffy of Millis, MA, Kathleen’s husband Richard of Henniker, NH, and daughter Colleen Wallace of Bristol, NH, Kevin Duffy and his wife Allison of Framingham, MA, Glen Duffy and fiancée Natalie Dorfneilsen of Waltham, MA, and Cate Duffy of Holliston, MA. Great-grandchildren are Tallulah Friel and Patrick Duffy. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Marge was a teacher for 23 years in Newton, Massachusetts schools. First as a Learning Disabilities tutor, then as a Remedial Reading and Math teacher at the elementary school level.
Marge’s greatest pleasure in life was being a Mom, a Nana and Aunt. She was well known for her great sense of humor, and volunteered for 11 years delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors in Chatham. She survived many Hurricanes & Holidays in Chatham.
Marge was a lifelong athlete, she was one of very few women to play women’s basketball in the early 1950’s at Notre Dame College in Staten Island, NY. A sports lover, she played tennis, volleyball, and hiked. She and Frank joined the Four Thousand Footer Club by hiking the forty eight 4,000 foot peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She was an avid Boston Celtics fan as well as cheered on all Boston teams.
In retirement Marge and Frank visited many places throughout the world including Antarctica, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada. Frank’s photography captured many great pictures of people, nature and animals on these trips. These pictures were proudly displayed throughout their home.
Marge and Frank looked forward to their annual visit from their niece Elaine and her friend Elaine. They enjoyed the cooked meal of a new recipe every evening. The baking and desserts were fantastic. The visits were thoroughly enjoyed and fond memories were made by all during these weeks.
Visitation will be held at John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street in Natick, MA on Saturday June 1st from 2:00-3:30pm. Followed by Prayer Service at 3:30pm.
