Martin Everett, Jr. Obituary

Of Ashland, MA passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on April 24th, 2021.  He was a devoted husband to Jacqueline D. Everett for over 60 years and loving father to Kim Everett and Andrea Everett-Wilson and her husband Jim Everett-Wilson, proud Grandpa of Ben and Maya Everett-Wilson.
Born in East Orange, N.J. to his parents Katherine Van Keuren and Martin R. Everett Sr, and was the younger brother of his late sister, Elizabeth Hunt.  He graduated from Newark Academy where he played football and baseball and worked on the school newspaper.  He was class of 1957 at Princeton University and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He settled in N.Y.C.  He used his interviewing talents as a reporter/journalist and editor for many publications in the NYC area, including The World Telegram and Sales and Marketing Management.

He fell in love with Jacqueline Dammann while hiking and married her on Sept 17th, 1960. They lived in NYC  where their two daughters were born.  They were also summer residents of Sandwich, NH for over 50 years.  They moved to Mt. Kisco N.Y.  and finally moving to Ashland, MA when they were 70 to be near their daughters and grandchildren.

Martin was a generous and thoughtful man with a variety of interests including sports, music, hiking and literature.  He was an avid reader and critical thinker belonging to 3 book groups in both MA and NY.    Also a true lover of the arts and music, he sang in Heritage Chorale in Framingham and the St. Paul’s Church Choir.
He loved the outdoors most: Walking in the woods of NH, up mountains, along rivers and routine walks with friends and family were central to him throughout his life, as well as his knowledge and love of the night sky.   His work as a journalist gave him a deep sense of interest in many topics and all kinds of people.  He derived great pleasure from listening to others talk about their passions.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Natick, MA on Sunday June 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception at the church.

Donations in honor of Martin can be made to Trustees of Reservations (MA), The Huntington Theatre, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Loon Conservation Centre and The Barnstormers in Tamworth, NH.
