Mary Margaret Bohan born on August 7, 1949 in Cambridge, MA passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025 in Newton, MA after a long battle with kidney disease. She was the cherished daughter of the late James and Margaret (McDevitt) Bohan.
Mary grew up in North Cambridge and attended St John the Evangelist Elementary School before graduating from North Cambridge Catholic High School in 1967. Her childhood was filled with treasured moments shared with her siblings.
In 1967, Mary began her professional career at J.L. Hammett School Supply Company in the accounting division. Through dedication and perseverance, she advanced to the role of Retail Administrative Manager. Mary was widely respected for her compassionate leadership and the meaningful connections she built with colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. Among these friendships was her bond with Peg Beckwith McEvoy. Peg became Mary’s lifelong friend and was a true soul mate. Peg and Eddie McEvoy and The Beckwiths became her second family.
Following her retirement from Hammett’s, Mary continued her career as Director of Finance at the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board. Her work was marked by integrity and commitment to excellence.
Mary was devoted sister of Thomas Bohan and his wife Rita of Tipperary, Ireland, Betty Aucoin and her husband Jerry of Natick, MA and the late Ann O’Donnel and her surviving husband Paul of Ellicott City, MD, the late James Bohan and his surviving wife, Dianna of Medford, MA and the late Pat Steers and her surviving husband Ron of North Port, FL. She was also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street NATICK COMMON on Sunday January 12th from 12-2pm. Followed by a Prayer Service at 2pm.
