With deep sadness and profound love, we share that Mary Louise (Paoli) Fruneaux passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2025, at the age of 68. Her loss is felt deeply by all who knew her, and her presence will continue to be felt in ways both large and small every day.
Mary was born on September 27, 1957, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to the late Ralph and Mary Ann (LePage) Paoli, whose influence and love remained a guiding presence throughout her life. She attended Wausau West High School in Wausau, Wisconsin. Later, she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her sister and help care for her young niece, and it was there that she met her future husband, Marcel. Although she spent most of her life in Natick, Massachusetts, her Midwestern roots remained central to who she was, and distance never weakened her devotion to family.
Mary worked for many years as a bookkeeper, valuing responsibility, diligence, and integrity. Yet her greatest work was the care she gave to others and the relationships she nurtured. Thoughtful, generous, and warm, she lived with an unshakable sense of purpose.
Mary had an extraordinary instinct for knowing when someone needed her. She listened with patience and care, offered comfort without judgment, and made people feel understood and supported. Compassion came naturally to her, and when others faced hardship, she responded with presence, steadiness, and strength.
On June 5, 1982, Mary married Marcel Fruneaux in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Their 43 years together were marked by loyalty, partnership, and enduring love. Mary was a devoted wife and a deeply present mother whose life revolved around her two children, showing up fully for their activities, dreams, and relationships.
Family was always at the heart of Mary’s life. She created memories through shared time, meaningful traditions, and meals made from cherished generational recipes. She had a gift for making moments feel joyful and special, especially for the many children in her extended family, and she brought energy and laughter wherever she went. Mary enjoyed creative hobbies and had a naturally hands-on, imaginative spirit. She valued time spent together and often brought people together, making frequent trips to visit family throughout the Midwest and cherishing the years spent at her parents’ family cabin on Feely Lake in Mercer, Wisconsin.
Mary is survived by her husband, Marcel Fruneaux; her son Marco Fruneaux and his wife Christina of Stoughton, Massachusetts; her daughter Marissa Fruneaux and her longtime partner Nicolas Exarchos of Milford, Massachusetts; her sister Therese Lee and her husband Richard Lee of Canadian Lakes, Michigan; her brothers Ralph Paoli and his wife Vicky of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Michael Paoli and his wife Katherine of Johnston, Iowa; and many beloved members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Ann Paoli; her brothers Steve and Paul Paoli; and her sister Suzy Shepard, all of whom remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Mary Louise Fruneaux leaves behind a legacy defined by love, compassion, and presence. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion, quiet grace, and the countless lives she touched simply by being who she was.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow, with details to be shared once arrangements are finalized.
