Mary “Maureen” E. (Murphy) Carter, 92, of Dover, MA, passed away, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Lasell House in Newton.
Maureen was the wife of the late George “Greg” E. Carter, who died on July 2, 2023.
Born in Walpole, MA, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Mary E. (O’Donnell) Murphy. She was also the sister of the late William F. Murphy of Delaware, and the late John D. Murphy of Walpole.
Maureen is a graduate of Regis College. She began her professional career as an on-air host/chef for a Televised cooking show sponsored by Boston Edison. Then she spent the next 30 years as a teacher at Natick High School where she delighted in chaperoning an annual trip to Bermuda for many years with her students. She retired from teaching in 1998 and then spent several successful years as a local real estate broker in the Metro-West market.
Maureen is survived by two sons, Gregory W. Carter and his Life Partner Lisa of Miami, FL, and David S. Carter and his wife Carol of Scarborough, ME, and a daughter, Andrea E. Zahnleuter and her husband Rick of Clifton Park, NY, six grandchildren, Chelsey, Gregory, Brittany, Mary Beth, Heidi and Molly and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick. At the Family’s request, burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vi Tutuny Food Pantry, 2 Webster Street, Natick, MA 01760 where Maureen was a volunteer for many years.
