Nancy Smith, a resident of Natick and formerly of Silver Spring, MD passed away suddenly on December 13, 2023, at the age of 65. Born in Albany, NY to the late Jack and Carol Hickey, she was the devoted wife of Chet Smith for 38 years. Loving mother of Sarah Prince and her husband Cato of Waltham, and the late Lyndsey Lee Smith. Cherished sister of Kyle Mesiti and her husband Nick of Albany, NY and her late brothers Jack and Brian Hickey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her wit, loyalty, grit, and pride in everything she did will be missed dearly. A graduate of Cortland State (NY) after attending Vincentian Institute HS in Albany, she managed postal carriers in Silver Spring while raising her two children. Despite Lyndsey’s brain injury, she somehow lovingly cared for both. Nancy worked landscaping, caring for properties, and building relationships with homeowners throughout the Metrowest area for nearly 20 years. She became a savvy investor and was always looking for the next big thing. She treasured having morning tea and celebrating with an evening cha-ching of the wine glass while on the phone with her dearest and lifelong friends. Her amazing story can be found in Ellen Shearer’s book NONVOTERS, America’s No Shows.
