Neil Auble Obituary

Of Natick, passed away September 6, 2021.  He was the loving husband of Mary Auble for 57 wonderful years until her passing in 2017.  He was born September 17, 1931, in Scipio township, Ohio.  The son of Mildred and Noble Auble, he grew up poor in money but rich in heart on a farm where he cared for animals and helped with the farm work.  After graduating from high school, Neil worked at a GE factory until he was drafted in 1951 for the Korean War.  He was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, in a military police unit for the US Army.  While there, his unit was involved in background scenes of the movie, “From Here to Eternity.”  After his military service, he then used the G.I. Bill to attend Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.  Through an accelerated program, he received a BA in business from Heidelberg and a JD from the University of Cincinnati school of law in six years.

While in Cincinnati, Ohio, Neil met the love of his life, Mary Kathleen Collins.  They married and had four children that became the center of his life and the beneficiaries of his endless love and warmth.  The family moved to Massachusetts in 1967 and Neil worked as a mortgage and real estate lawyer at John Hancock until he retired.  Since retiring, he has stayed busy playing with his grandchildren and watching them grow, creating beautiful flower gardens in his yard, traveling around the US with his best friend and wife, Mary, and taking long walks on the beach holding Mary‘s hand.  “Pepa,” as he was called by his grandchildren was a gentle, kind, loving soul and he will be greatly missed.

Neil was the loving father of Debra Auble of West Virginia and her husband, Rodney; Susan Auble of Hopkinton; Becky Mourey of Hopkinton and her husband, Jim, and Tom Auble of St. Louis, Missouri.  He was the cherished grandfather of Tyler, Ali, Luke, Mea, and Alex.  He is survived by his brother Ron and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Marion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at the Glenwood cemetery in Natick, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM to share in a celebration of Neil’s life.
