Peter (Pietro) Joseph Manna lived a long life filled with love. He was the son of Italian immigrants and grew up in the Navy Yard section of Natick, graduating from Natick High School in 1943. Peter was a proud Army veteran of WWII and saw action throughout New Guinea and the southern Philippines. For his honored service, he was awarded the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star. Upon his return, he joined the US Postal Service. He eventually became Postmaster in Wayland and in Hopkinton. Upon Peter's retirement, he enjoyed a second career selling real estate for Hughes and Hughes Realty in Natick. Peter loved to read and instilled the importance of education on his three daughters. Peter also loved to golf, and his skills on the course were admired by many. He was a volunteer assistant golf coach at Natick High School, where he inspired the students. Peter was a lifelong Elk and very involved in the Natick lodge. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Carole, especially to Italy. He seemed to know someone everywhere he went, from the top of the Empire State Building to Rome. His family will always remember playing in the pool, enthusiastic Sunday dinners, and loud pitch games at Goose Rocks Beach.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carole (Cutaia) and their family. His adored family included his daughters Tracie Chinetti and her husband Thomas of Natick; Pia Manna and her partner Michael Hardman of Natick; and Ann-Marie Sweeney and her husband John of Acton. He delighted in his grandchildren, including Michael Haigis, Cristina Allison and her husband RJ, Allessandra Chinetti, Jack Haigis, Pietra Sweeney, Gabriella Chinetti, Dylan Sweeney, and Noah Sweeney, as well as his newborn great granddaughter Sydney Allison. Peter also leaves behind his sister-in-law Charlotte Kaufman and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and close friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents Nazzareno and Anna Maria Manna, and his siblings, Mario and Eva Manna, Donald and Jennie Richer, and Carlo and Carrie Galvani.
