Raymond McDonnell Obituary

Age 65, in Warwick, RI formerly of Providence, RI, Lynchburg and Roanoke, VA, passed away suddenly on November 23, 2021. Loving son of the late Raymond P. and Vernie B. (Bauer) McDonnell. Devoted brother of Lisa McDonnell of Swampscott, MA, Jill and Victor Bradley of Shrewsbury, MA, Jody and Joe Ciccarello of Natick, MA, and Edward “Teddy” McDonnell of Wirtz, VA. Cherished uncle of Randi and Will Gingras, Alexis Bradley, Ashton and Joe Lavoie, Courtney and Matt Lemanski, Jillaine and Reed Brown, Danielle and Gil Ward, and Joey Ciccarello. He is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews.

In his classic unassuming way, Buddy encompassed kindness and gentility. He was the most thoughtful and generous man one could know. He had a grumbling chuckle that would cause one to laugh without even knowing why. Though he was quiet, his presence in a room was immensely felt. Without a word being said, his nature could magically cause one to feel calm and safe. There never seems to be enough time to tell a person how cherished and loved they are. All of our memories are filled with how lucky we were to have Buddy in our lives.  How do you fill that space in your life when such an important piece is missing?  Buddy was so many things to different people.  He quietly and unassumingly made such an impact on us all.  He was a phenomenal skating coach that had many champions to his credit. He loved sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts. He spent many a Sunday watching football with Teddy and his close friend Richard. Buddy was an exceptional cook and was always happy to share his creations and delicious recipes. He loved dogs and rescued many of them from shelters. He was a dedicated employee who never missed a day of work in all his years at Verizon. He loved his family fiercely and was always there to help when you needed him most.

Most of all Buddy was a beloved son, brother, and friend.
