Richard Lee Henderson of Natick passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born in Somerville to the late John and Virginia (Crowell) Henderson. Beloved husband of the late Theresa “Terry” (Sauta) Henderson. Devoted father of David Henderson of Natick, Barry Henderson and his spouse Loriann of Andover, Donna Terestre and spouse Cindy of Auburn, Linda Henderson of Natick, Patricia Henderson Kelley and husband John of Peabody and the late Cheryl and John Henderson. Loving grandfather to Rachel Sharon and spouse Dylan, Benjamin, Matthew, and Gabriel Sharon, Sgt Scott Henderson US Army, Sgt Mark Henderson, US Army Reserves and spouse Jacklyn, Taylor, Faith, and the late Devin Henderson, and great grandson Knox Henderson. Dick is survived by his cherished siblings William Henderson and his spouse Judy, Robert Henderson, Suzanne Moulton, Kenn Henderson and his spouse Bob Bratton, Peter Henderson, and Cynthia Beard and her partner Michael Lauber. Dick is also survived by his Brother in law Charles Sauta and wife Jean, and Sister in laws Connie Coffin, Lillian Sauta, and Betty Sauta. He is predeceased by brother and sister-in-laws James, Richard, John and Elaine Sauta and most recently Mary Allen. Dick is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Richard ”Dick” enlisted in the Army National Guard after graduation from high school and served two years in the Navy from 1956 to 1958 aboard the USS General H.W. Butner. Dick met his future wife and love of his life Terry while on leave with his shipmate and future brother-in-law Norman. After release from the service he obtained his degree in Accounting from Bentley College while raising a family and working multiple jobs. Dick was a lifelong hockey player and founding member of the Natick Comets. Later in life Dick joined the senior’s hockey league and played with the Quincy Bald Eagles. In the 1990’s he was invited to play with the Boston Moby Dicks in the invitational Snoopy Senior World Hockey tournament in Santa Rosa California. He continued to play hockey until the age of 80. Dick enjoyed a lifelong love of the sea and summer vacations with his kids in Eastham on Cape Cod. Later in life Dick enjoyed playing cribbage with his brother Peter as well as doing crosswords and walking with his friend Bill Baily. Dick enjoyed his time volunteering with the town of Natick delivering Meals on Wheels, working at the library, the town hall and the Senior Center. Dick was a good accountant, a great whistler and damn fine dancer.
