Rita Fitzpatrick Obituary

Rita V. (Jordan) Fitzpatrick of Natick passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the age of 101.

Rita was born October 15, 1920 in Natick, the daughter of the late James and Bridget (Tobin) Jordan.  Rita was a life-long resident of Natick, until recently when she became a resident of St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. Rita was a life-long communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Natick and St. Linus Church, Natick. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Fitzpatrick.

Rita was educated in Natick Public schools.  She was known for her singing, often brought from classroom to classroom to entertain. After graduation, Rita worked as a bookkeeper in Wellesley.  It is in Wellesley that her passion for shopping began.  This pastime continued until her passing.  Rita was never seen alone, always accompanied by her sisters, the “Jordan girls”.

Rita was the youngest of her large family and through the years was a tremendous help to her older siblings in their time of need.  A woman who lived her life with a strong faith and spirituality, Rita possessed a beautiful smile, a wonderful personality with quick wit and engaged folks in conversation wherever she went.  Rita always made you feel special and always told you she loved you and always gave you a hug; a “love” as she called it.

Rita’s love for her children, their spouses and her grandchildren and great grandchildren was the focus of her life.  A wonderful mother and Grammy, she was always there when they needed her.  She never forgot special occasions and would plan her outfit for all the family events. Even in her later years Rita displayed her classic style of fashion with, of course, matching accessories!

Rita was an avid Red Sox and Patriots’ fan.  She was thrilled when their games were being broadcast and would cheer them on with every play.

Rita was the devoted mother of Sharon Guilfoil and husband Michael of Franklin, William J. Fitzpatrick, Jr. and partner Sue Burt of Yarmouth and Keith Fitzpatrick of Bellingham. She was the loving mother-in-law of Andrea Fitzpatrick, whom she considered a daughter.  Rita was the loving grandmother of Shaun and his wife Rachel, Megan and her husband John, Jennifer and her husband Michael, Colleen and her husband Robert, Melissa, Katelyn, Berkeley and Malachy.  She was the great grandmother of Liam, Ronnie, Adam, R.J., Amelia, Will, Eryn, Isabelle, Evelyn, and Emma. Rita was loved by many nieces and nephews who many considered her, their second mother. She was the sister of the late Mary Farr, Catherine Heald, Bridie Farley, Thomas Jordan, Genevieve Cleveland, Anna Jaeger and Anastasia Grupposo.
