Robert James Beeson, a devoted husband, beloved uncle, and gifted pianist, passed away on December 3, 2024, at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, after a courageous battle with cancer at 58 years old.
Born on January 26, 1966, Robert grew up with a passion for music that began when he first heard the melody of On Golden Pond at the age of six. That song ignited a lifelong commitment to the piano, leading him to master works by Brahms, Bach, Chopin, and Debussy. Many stories of Robert as a young child include his precocious intellect, his ability to soar beyond basic academics, and master tests and assessments with ease and humility. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Physics and continued his education at The University of Central Florida with a Masters of Engineering in Electro Optics. Rob always wondered about becoming a professor, as he could explain physics, history, and advanced theories and concepts with patience, a fountain pen, and a piece of paper. In his career, he managed multiple companies, earning a lasting reputation for his remarkable ability to connect with and genuinely care for his employees. He helped his employees establish their hopes and dreams, and prioritized their futures and successes over company profits.
Robert's life was enriched by his deep relationships with those he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Wong, whose unwavering care and love brought joy, laughter, and strength to his life. Rita and Rob loved going to New York to see Broadway shows, and fell in love with traveling to places like Italy, China, Kauai, and Japan. They enjoyed exploring worldly cuisines and going on adventures together. They had a deep respect for each other's cultures and passions, witnessed by all who knew them. He also leaves behind his nieces: JB, Mandi, and Bel Beeson. They adored their Uncle Rob's quick wit, wisdom, loyalty, and charmingly sarcastic sense of humor. They will remember their years growing up with him as being inundated by the sound of his piano, his laughter, and his dedication to remaining a formative pillar for them to always lean on. He attended every graduation, every ceremony, and every milestone in their lives. They will miss having conversations with him about politics, science, books, and the latest musicals.
Robert James Beeson will be remembered for the beautiful words and melodies he brought into the world. His legacy lives on through the heartfelt letters he wrote, the treasured books in his collection, his boundless passion for physics and fountain pens, and the timeless melodies of the music he shared with the world.
