Rocco P. Frasca of Natick passed away at MetroWest Medical Center after a long battle of failing health on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024. He was 93 years old.
Rocky was born in Natick on April Fool’s Day, April 1st, 1931 where he lived for the majority of his life. He graduated from Natick High School in 1949.
He was drafted into the army in 1952 and worked as a medic during the Korean War. During his time overseas, Rocky exchanged letters with his pen pal, Anna Garufo. They wrote to each other during his 17-month enlistment, and met in person in East Boston where Anna lived when he returned home. They began dating and would later marry on September 4th, 1955. They settled down in Natick where Rocky built his home alongside his father. They welcomed their first son, Michael, into the world in 1967 and their second son, Stephen, shortly after in 1968.
Rocky had a successful career at the local Middlesex Savings Bank in Natick. He made many lasting friendships and kept in touch with his old colleagues long after retirement.
For many years, Rocky and Anna drove down to Florida during the winter to spend time with friends and family and enjoy the warm weather. Together they owned their summer home in Gilford, New Hampshire where the whole family would gather on the weekends during the summer. He would walk several miles in his neighborhood every morning and opted to do laps in his basement during the colder months. When he was able, he loved tending to his vegetable garden and always made sure to share his homegrown zucchini and tomatoes with his family. He read many books on war history over the years, and never passed up the opportunity to watch The Sound of Music.
When Anna passed away in 2010, Rocky made sure to stay active. He walked 4 miles every day to visit her grave until he couldn’t anymore. He spent many hours behind the wheel of his “little green truck” driving around town and admiring all the new developments being built, and always made sure to go to stop at the cemetery and leave flowers on Anna and his late baby sister’s graves. His family admired his ability to continue to live his life to the fullest after experiencing this loss. He learned many of Anna’s recipes to make for himself, and met his friends for coffee most mornings at Dunkin’ Donuts in Natick.
Rocky cherished his time spent with his grandchildren. He always made sure to gather with his family during the holidays, where he’d receive the occasional tease from his grandkids about when he was going to find a girlfriend. He’d always laugh and counter it with “I don’t need another woman; I’ve already found the love of my life.”
Rocky made friends wherever he went, and was loved by many. He loved being social, valued his independence, and was everything you could want in a father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rocco is predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Dora (Onorato) Frasca, his wife of 55 years, Anna (Garufo) Frasca, his son Stephen Frasca, and his siblings Gracie Frasca, Louis Frasca, and Grace Frasca.
He was the loving father of Michael A. Frasca and his wife Deborah (Perkins) of Lehigh Acres, FL. Doting Papa of Jacqueline Frasca of Revere, Katerina Frasca of Blackstone, Mackenize Frasca of Bellingham, Michelle Frasca of Bridgewater, and Nina Frasca of Natick, and great grandfather of Ijadis Frasca, Jadalynn Andrews, and Armani Frye, all of Blackstone. Adored brother of Rose Moniz of Miami, FL. Cherished father-in-law of Lucia Frasca of Bellingham. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home at Natick Common, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA 01760 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A funeral home service will begin at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held privately.
